Configured new dedicated web server for Computer And Network Consultants
Yesterday we configured a new dedicated web server for Computer & Network Consultants which will shortly go live.
The server runs the new CNC Web Site, incorporating the Customer Portal allowing customers to:
- View and download sales invoices
- Manage their nominated support contacts
- View current software licences and support contracts (costs and renewal dates)
- View the status of and submit new Service Requests to CNC
- Control how incident information is emailed to them
- Report on CNC Support Desk performance stats
Technical stuff
The Server runs MS Windows Server 2008 with the Zend Server Community Edition stack (the Apache Web Server, PHP and MySQL). The web site was developed by VGroup using the Drupal CMS and the customer Portal was developed by Sweet Code using custom-developed Drupal Modules. Sweet Code migrated the Drupal database from Postgresql to MySQL as MySQL has the advantage of being more widely used.
We will use SSL technology to ensure portal data is transmitted securely and privately between the server and web browser.
